When the Intrepid got stuck in 24 years of Hudson River mud during its 2006 relocation, the delay allowed us at dattner to perfect every detail of the four new access towers for the rebuilt pier and restore the ship's historic fo'c'sle.
Working closely with structural engineers, we designed towers that could handle a million annual visitors while withstanding marine conditions.
One tower includes a glass elevator providing direct access from pier to flight deck—transforming how visitors experience this floating piece of history.
